Health Coaching Gives Me The ICK
Honest to god, whenever I see someone say they are a health coach I roll my eyes.
I don’t mean to! I know the yogic world says we shouldn’t judge but I’m Italian, what can I say?? Truthfully it’s an unregulated space and ANYONE can claim they are a health coach nowadays which makes me feel uneasy.
I have been in the wellness space long enough to see a person that chose to be one because they saw the fear people have around their bodies, realized they are kinda ~hot~ so people envied their genetics, and decided “this is my time to make bank.”
What I find with many health coaches is they regurgitate the same old stuff that CAN be beneficial, but not for everyone.
“This is how you count your macros.”
“Go to the gym 3-5 times a week.”
“Get 8 hours of sleep.”
“Don’t eat gluten.”
Yes, okay. We have all heard it before. Boring. Unhelpful. Disingenuous. But you see a BBL and some great angles and you’re like “Well I want THAT body” and we fall for it time and time again. (Myself included)
Not realizing that the best version of OUR body is in there. Sometimes we just compare compare compare and don’t actually sit with “what should I be working on to be the best version of myself in THIS body”.
So if I hate the title so much, why did I choose to BECOME ONE?
Well… I knew I could do it differently.
Understanding the food you put in your body IS important. Understanding HOW we utilize food for nutrition DOES help. Knowing when to eat what WILL make you feel better.
But it’s more than “eat this now - stay away from that - and never even THINK about consuming those - also, this butt regime that I’m selling for $100 is going to give you the best glutes ever”
You could follow a program for a month and you will see some shifts, but I promise you, you won’t be able to follow a strict program for years and years to come.
Instead of playing a numbers game in your head and constantly calculating, look at:
What foods keep you fuller longer?
What foods upset your stomach?
When you reach for something to eat is it out of boredom? Emotionally charged?
Are you moving in a way that you love?
There is no one size fits all way to a healthier body - but there is a way you can discover what works for you.
And that means coming BACK TO YOU. Looking at your nervous system. Checking in with your daily eating habits. Understanding your emotional responses to triggers, and learning how to regulate yourself.
When all this comes together - you will no longer fall into another fad diet or second guess the way you live your life.
And that’s why I chose to do what I do.
I realized that you didn’t need to live your life in the “shoulds”. What you think everyone else is telling you what to do, but you can live your life from a place of confidence in how you treat yourself.
I knew I could give you that peace of mind, because I did it for myself. There is ease out there.
Lots of love,
Tia
